London's Museums

London has a bit of a reputation for high hotel prices - referring of course to good standard hotels as distinct from overnight warehouse-type accommodation trying to masquerade as real hotels. Visitors can be surprised to find that there are are some great discount London hotel deals available ..... there to be taken if you take the trouble to look.

Another surprise for tourists is that many of the city's principal tourists attractions - its grand museums - are completely free, with no admission charges. This is thanks to current government policies and a rejection of the old Thatcherite contempt that once existed for those who had to endure under the rule of rigid, fundamentalist Tory economics. Ah, yes. It had its day.

Thankfully now, there is no feeling of exclusion anymore and you can breeze your way through the treasures and impressive exhibits of National Gallery, the Tate Modern, the Natural History and the British Musuem.

There is so much to see, and with the exception of some special exhibits where you may have to pay a fee, all of this is for free. So much in fact, that you could easily wear yourself out and overdose on aesthetics. So don't expect to do it all in one day. Remember, you can come back again the next day and take things at your own pace.

This is especially the way to approach the formidable Victoria and Albert Museum. The scale here is vast, and its seven miles of corridors can put the best pair of limbs to the test.

Now, to the feature deal for hotels near King's Cross - ideal for those needing an overnight stop for mainline train connections .......
