Fire and damnation awaits - Apocalypse at the Tate

The Tate Gallery is currently presenting a major exhibition called Apocalypse dealing with the work of the controversial nineteenth century artist John Martin.  Dubbed the 'people's painter' because of the general popularity he evinced with his graphic biblical scenes of damnation and the final judgment, he was nevertheless dismissed by the critics of the time who found his work unpleasant and unappealing.

You may well ask:  what's new?  An artist who is popular, talented and successful, and who is pilloried by the critics is something we have seen many times before. Well, to see what all the fuss was about, The Apocalypse exhibition is running in The Tate from now until the 15 January 2012.

If you want to be surprised and to find out just how potent and dramatic art can be, this exhibition is definitely worth a visit.

Of course, it is not the only exciting event happening in the capital.  London is a big place and there is always plenty of drama to be found.  I mention this because you can go in search of your particular fix with our newly available discounts for London hotels.  These latest promotions can help take the sting out of the expensive cost of a stay in London, and so give you the chance to see and do what you want in the city with the knowledge that you have saved a little on your hotel or apartment costs.
